Wrestle Like A Girl (WLAG) Executive Director

The Executive Director provides strategic leadership and operational management for Wrestle Like a Girl, advancing the organization's mission to empower girls through wrestling and athletic programming. This role is remote and accountable for organizational performance, financial sustainability, program excellence, and stakeholder engagement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute the organization's strategic plan in collaboration with the Board of Directors and WLAG Senior Leadership.

  • Set organizational priorities and ensure alignment across all programs and departments.

  • Monitor and evaluate organizational performance against strategic goals.

Operational Management

  • Provide day-to-day oversight of all organizational operations and programs.

  • Manage organizational budget, financial planning, and resource allocation.

  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and contractual obligations.

  • Implement systems, policies, and procedures for organizational effectiveness.

Program Development & Quality

  • Partner on program design, delivery, and evaluation across all initiatives.

  • Ensure programs achieve measurable impact aligned with mission.

  • Maintain quality standards and participant safety protocols.

Team Leadership

  • Recruit, develop, and manage staff and key volunteers.

  • Build organizational capacity through talent development.

  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing culture.

Fundraising & Development

  • Lead fundraising strategy and revenue generation efforts.

  • Cultivate and steward major donor relationships.

  • Oversee grant writing, corporate partnerships, and earned revenue.

  • Ensure diversified and sustainable funding streams.

Board Relations

  • Partner with Board Chair to support effective board governance.

  • Provide regular reporting on organizational performance.

  • Prepare board materials and facilitate productive board meetings.

  • Implement board decisions and policies.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in nonprofit management.

  • Proven track record in organizational leadership and team management.

  • Demonstrated success in fundraising and financial management.

  • Strong strategic thinking and operational execution capabilities.

  • Passion for youth development and gender equity in sports.

  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and advocacy skills.

  • Experience with board governance and stakeholder management.

  • Knowledge of wrestling or youth sports programming preferred.
