WLAG Teal Certification

Wrestle Like A Girl and USA Wrestling have introduced a free 2-hour online training to support the growth and development of current and aspiring coaches of girls' and women’s wrestling. Offered as part of USA Wrestling’s National Coaches Education Program, Teal Certification.

Participants will explore strategies for creating inclusive and welcoming environments for girls in wrestling rooms, empowering future coaches, and fostering a positive, respectful team culture.

The course kicks off with an overview of Wrestle Like A Girl, USA Wrestling, and the evolution of women’s wrestling, including its Olympic history and growth trends across the U.S.

The Teal course emphasizes the impact of language used by coaches and provides education on best practices in coaching. It also encourages coaches to reflect on the unique experiences of athletes from diverse backgrounds and covers key aspects of adolescent development in girls, alongside female-specific techniques.

Throughout the training, you'll hear insights from influential leaders and coaches in the wrestling community, including Joan Fulp, Katherine Shai, Tela O’Donnell, Lori Clift Ayers, Charlotte Bailey, Sally Roberts, Katie Kriebel, and Jessica Medina Bunker.
