Louisiana Girls Wrestling Initiative
strength
discipline
determination
In the world of sports, there's a place for everyone, and girls have every right to embrace the strength, discipline, and determination that wrestling offers. The goal of the Louisiana Girls Wrestling Initiative is to empower girls and women, using the sport of wrestling, to become leaders in life, chase their dreams, and break down gender barriers on the mat
Timmy Couvillion, CEO of the Couvillion Group believes that success in business and in life can come through carefully crafted sports programs. As a coach and as a former wrestler himself, Timmy is an advocate of wrestling as a foundation for confidence and success. Timmy’s efforts have personally affected so many athletes, including Louisiana Girls Wrestler Natalie Davis.
Natalie Davis has been competing for 3 years and has won over 25 awards. When asked why she loves the sport, Natalie said “Wrestling has helped me grow not only as an athlete but as a person. I learned to push through and to break down stereotypes for other girls. Wrestling helps people learn mental toughness and self-discipline, and that’s why I love this sport. I am eternally grateful for wrestling. It’s not just a sport, it's my life.
The Louisiana Girls Wrestling Initiative believes in a brighter future for girls and women’s wrestling. Together with WLAG, we lead and support policies that champion the inclusion of girls and women in wrestling, advocate for a healthier wrestling culture, and lead projects that reduce barriers to entry and increase opportunities.
